Hyatt Hotel Fund for Minority Lodging Management Students - This endowment fund was established in 1988 and it seeks to honor the best and brightest minority students enrolled in hospitality management programs by providing financial support.   In 2001 Hyatt made a commitment to the endowment and consequently the fund has now reached over $850,000. Hyatt has granted 278 scholarships totaling $434,000.
 
HBCU/Hyatt Partnership - Since 1996, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts has partnered with Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) by sponsoring outstanding junior and senior minority students pursuing a bachelors degree in the hospitality industry to attend the Hotel/Motel Show held annually in New York.  Our goal is to supplement the student’s academic education by offering networking opportunities and professional development workshops given by some of our minority General Managers.  In turn, we have the opportunity to acquaint students from around the country with our company’s culture, introduce students to members of our staff, and recruit students for Internship and Corporate Management Trainee positions.
 
Groundhog Job Shadow Day – In 1998, Hyatt joined America’s Promise, The American Hotel and Motel Association (AH&MA), the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the Hospitality Business Alliance (HBA) by participating in Groundhog Job Shadow Day (GJSD).  High School students across the country get an up-close look at the different careers and opportunities available in the hospitality industry.  The most significant and valuable aspects of Groundhog Job Shadow Day are the connection between academics and careers that students learn by making their class-work more relevant; building community partnerships between the schools and our hotels; and introducing students to the benefits of the lodging industry to help them prepare to join the workforce for the 21st Century.
 
The Multicultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance (MFHA) - As an original founding member, Hyatt was instrumental in the developmental stages of MFHA, an organization of Foodservice suppliers, retailers and hospitality professionals created to encourage and enhance the image of minority development and career advancement opportunities.  MFHA is the industry’s only organization focused solely on promoting diversity with the intent to educate, facilitate and serve as a resource for information on multicultural diversity.
